Clients' Rights
We believe that our service users should have the following rights and that we should encourage our service users' awareness of their rights. Service users have the right to:
- Be actively involved in all decisions about their health care and about any proposed changes in their daily living arrangements and to have the opportunity to make suggestions.
- Have their dignity respected by others in every way possible and to be treated, whatever their disabilities or frailties, as individuals in their own right.
- Privacy for themselves, their belongings and their affairs. They have the right to expect that all information relating to them will be treated in the strictest confidence, in line with Tendercare policies and procedures.
- Personal independence and personal choice. They will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own health care and to care for themselves as far as they are able and willing.
- Access to the same facilities and services in the surrounding community as any other citizen and will enjoy all the normal civil, legal and political rights. Service users have the right to be represented by a carer, family member or advocate if they wish.
- Have their social, cultural, religious, sexual, emotional and other needs accepted and respected with support from staff when needed or required.
- Expect management and staff to accept the degree of risk involved in these principles and not have their personal independence unnecessarily restricted for fear of such risk.
- Expect the highest possible standards of care at all times, from all staff.
- Expect that everyone involved with Tendercare genuinely cares about others.
- Remain living in ones own home and to be given every assistance to do so, as securely and as comfortably as possible.
- Access to all information held about them by Tendercare.
- Complain about any aspect of the care they receive from Tendercare and to be made aware of the Tendercare Complaints Procedure (a copy of Which may be found in your folder).
- Expect that their dignity and privacy will be respected and upheld.
- Having the Tendercare core values shown at all times.
- Do as they wish in their own home, unless health and safety over-rides.
- Change their carer if they so wish.
- Expect that their care will not be withdrawn if a complaint is made.
- Have their care package reviewed at any time
- Refuse entry to staff. This will be over-ridden by management under health and safety issues.
